Hi! I'm Betsey, a pelvic floor physical therapist
Pelvic Health & Fitness was founded by Dr. Betsey Caldwell PT, DPT in 2016. Originally based in Los Angeles, Betsey has recently moved to Grand Rapids, MI and opened her own private practice. She is currently accepting new patients.
Betsey has her doctorate degree in physical therapy and has specialized in women's health, pelvic health, and female athlete performance. She worked in pelvic health for 2 years in Boulder, Colorado before moving to Michigan with her husband and newborn, Noah.
Third person aside, I am excited to create a community empowering women of all ages to understand the uniqueness of their bodies specific to their time of life. I became passionate about Women's Health Physical Therapy because I recognized TWO problems relevant in society today.
First, there is an abundance of misinformation regarding women’s health and pelvic floor issues. Many women were taught at a young age that talking about feminine problems was "taboo.” This has led to a culture where women are either too ashamed to speak up at their doctors' appointments or believe that their symptoms are normal and cannot be managed.
Secondly, there is also a lot of misinformation in the fitness industry regarding the proper body mechanics, form and execution of exercises. All of this is hurting our bodies. Whether you are pregnant, already have several kiddos or are dealing with pelvic floor dysfunction, you deserve to know what is safe and what is not. I look forward to beginning this healthy journey together!
